Our coworkers are often asked by acquaintances why it is better to work in a coworking space than at home. The answers are clear to us, which is why we decided to share our thoughts on this with the great value, in the hope that the next time they ask, it will be enough to say: “ read this post, it sums up the point really well ”.
In the Muse office by itself Our bias towards the coworking genre is understandable, but of course we also see, feel, and experience that this way of life is new to many. We have all walked different paths in life, but we all have an explanation for why working at Muse is better than sitting at home on the couch.
- Sitting on the couch in pajamas all day vs. a fixed schedule
In the first few months of freelancing, it may seem like a good idea to work long days, even weeks, sitting on the couch in your pajamas, but in the long run, it’s not a win-win. Partly because you get stuck when you’re always at home and all your activities are limited to a few square meters of space – even if your apartment is big. Partly because having to leave home always gives you a framework for the day and obligations like getting dressed for the day. Having a fixed schedule makes everything run more smoothly.
- Distraction and procrastination vs. concentration
In the home environment, it is incredibly easy to constantly come up with replacement activities and fake very important things to do instead of working. For example, it is very important to wash all the laundry, wash the dishes, vacuum, sort the trash – in other words, to do anything, just so that we don’t have to work. Meanwhile, of course, the day passes unnoticed, and we get tired, and rightfully so, because we did a lot of things, but not exactly what we should have done. The office, on the other hand, is designed for productive work, in addition to being equipped with various comfort devices, such as a massage chair, a dishwasher, or a super coffee maker.
- Alone vs. in company
Most freelancers work alone, but not lonely, as in addition to clients, they are entertained by coworkers in a shared office – provided they have a need for this. It is a great opportunity that at Muse there is always someone to talk to, ask for advice from, or just have coffee or tea together. The same is unthinkable at home, as we can't talk to anyone except the neighbor and our pets, especially regarding non-professional matters.
- Difficult customer acquisition vs. constant networking
Have you ever worried about where you're going to get new clients? Because we don't at Muse. And that's because we're constantly on the move. Community members help and recommend each other, plus the office often hosts exciting programs and workshops, which provides another opportunity for networking, and of course, self-development is child's play.
- Home vs. work
If your home is also your workplace, after a while it becomes much harder to think of it as a place to relax and recharge, because instead of working, you are thinking about unfinished household chores, or vice versa: while vacuuming, you are still racking your brain about the things you have planned for that day. Everything needs a place. At Muse, we also like that it is close to everything: both to clients and to the city. For example, you can easily pop out during the day to exercise, have lunch, or run errands without feeling like your day is interrupted.
The co-working experience is completely different from the office we are used to as employees. At Muse, you can belong to a community while enjoying only the benefits, while being free. Come and join us for a trial day and experience what it's like to be part of us!
